Antelope Valley Girl's

2006 Golden League MVP - Roxanne Neely
Roxanne Neely selected Cal State East Bay because the coach and the team
seemed a perfect fit for her style of play: aggressive and fast-paced. The team
travels frequently and plays the best teams from both the West and East coasts.
California State University - East Bay began the 2007 season unranked in NCAA Division III.
That error has been corrected as CSU-EB now stands at 13-1 and is ranked
#13 in the U.S. They have defeated some excellent teams including the #6 ranked
University of Laverne.
Neely is no star on the East Bay team. She is part of a cat-like defense that takes whatever
is thrown at them and responds with at least three players making double digit kills.
East Bay plays a demanding schedule that will include last year's national champ, Juniata, in
October. It has been quite an experience for a first year setter from the Antelope Valley.
Next year the senior CSU- EB setter, Alyssa Chang, will graduate and Neely will assume
the full weight of setting for a program seeking an NCAA Division III championship. Only time
will tell, but Neely is looking forward to the challenge.
