Quartz Hill vs. Lancaster Toss-up Goes to Lancaster

In a game that both teams deserved to win, Lancaster

dug deep and managed a fifth game victory against

a power hitting Quartz Hill volleyball squad to remain

the Golden League leader.

Lancaster showed no signs of the weaknesses it exhibited

against a hardworking AVHS team on Tuesday. In spite

of Tuesday’s win, Lancaster gave no indication they could

compete with Quartz Hill.

Tonight’s (10/12/06) game was, however, a return to form

for the young Lancaster Eagles as they easily won the first

two and then just as easily gave away the third and fourth

games to a convincing Quartz Hill offense.

The fifth game began with Quartz Hill maintaining the

momentum from their fourth game win. Then, Lancaster

displayed a series of desperation saves and heads up

play that turned the tables on Quartz Hill at home.

The final play of the game was just one more example of

incredible team cooperation resulting in a memorable

game point save by Seferina Starks and hit by Roxanne Neely

leading to a match victory against a formidable and

always potent Quartz Hill offense.

Every Lancaster player came through at critical points.

The team-think missing in recent games returned and the

result was a win over a Quartz Hill squad that seemed

clearly dominant.
