With an average of almost five kills per game, Plante-Newman has helped her Regals to a 33rd national ranking in kills per game (14.68). Combine that with her own improved attack percentage (.272) and career highs in digs, blocks and aces, and it's easy to see why the past Quartz Hill, Revolution volleyball ace has captured so many accolades after only three seasons with the Regals.
Just one week before being named to the All-West team, Plant-Newman, along with two of her Regal teammates, were named to the all Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference First team.
Both honors, though, should not come as a surprise. Plante-Newman, a 5-foot-8 junior outside hitter, led the Regals in kills (414) and 51 service aces and helped Cal Lutheran to an 18-8 record (11-3 in SCIAC games) and a second place conference finish.
Despite the Regals consistent play, they were left out of the NCAA tournament.
