But that might not be the case.
Just two days removed from knocking off Division III-AA's No. 1 seed Oaks Christian, the Quartz Hill High School girls volleyball faces another stiff test tonight - its first road match of the Southern Section playoffs.
Quartz Hill (20-1) travels to Cypress (20-1) in the semifinals tonight with a trip to this weekend's Division III-AA championship game at Cypress College on the line.
Quartz Hill won its first three matches of the playoffs in dominant fashion, including Saturday night's three-game sweep of Oaks Christian.
After spending a year away from the school's volleyball program, Quartz Hill coach Larry Vocke returned this year to a roster full of talented players. Still, he said, now is not the time to be content.
"I don't relax until the match is over," Vocke said. "But, yes, this is a fun team to watch."
While the Rebels were taking care of the Lions Saturday night, Cypress was busy eliminating La Reina, another Tri-Valley League team. Previously thought to be this division's toughest league, all three remaining Tri-Valley teams were beaten in the quarterfinals.
Cypress did not lose a match in Empire League play, running away with the title in the same fashion Quartz Hill did.
The Centurions beat Culver City in the first round last Tuesday and then went on the road, beating La Serna in the second round and La Reina in the quarterfinals.
Quartz Hill caught Oaks Christian by surprise Saturday, but the Rebels won't be able to do that anymore. Their secret is out. Vocke is aware of the task ahead, but also knows that his team is so deep with talent that it can overwhelm its opponents on any night.
Against Oaks Christian, Vocke's team played as near to a perfect match as it has all year. If the Rebels can maintain consistency, they may just be a Southern Section finalist.
Expectations are higher now, though, and a new challenge presents itself tonight.
