LANCASTER - Kara Sherard led the Quartz Hill girls volleyball team with 15 kills in a 3-0 (25-8, 25-15, 25-15) win at Antelope Valley on Tuesday.
Chelsea Hamilton added 10 kills, Kahlia Burnley tallied nine, and Kahli Remy finished with six for Quartz Hill.
"They only played well enough to win," Rebels' coach Larry Vocke said.
The Rebels have a big match on Thursday against the only other undefeated team left in the Golden League, Littlerock.
"I think we are capable of winning, but we aren't clicking on all cylinders right now," Vocke said.
Kern Valley 3, Mojave 1
KERN VALLEY - Ashley Marroquin had 19 kills and 30 digs for Mojave but could not lead her team to a victory in their league opener against Kern Valley (25-20, 22-25, 25-15, 25-19).
Teammate Lauren Grenier had 19 digs and 22 assists.
"At times we played very well but then we'd go through cold spells that we couldn't afford to have," Mojave coach Shane Moore said.
Littlerock 3, Knight 0
PALMDALE - Nikki Castrellon had 10 kills, six digs and four aces as the Lobos (5-0) cruised over Knight.
Cori Haynes added 22 assists and Priscilla Hall contributed six blocks for Littlerock.
"I played everyone, so at times it was a little shaky," Lobos coach Teri Watts said. "The girls had fun so that's all that matters.
Lone Pine 3, Boron 2
LONE PINE - Despite Bobcat Chelsea Vickers 11 kills, Boron lost in five against Lone Pine (18-25, 25-19, 25-16, 18-25, 15-9).
Randi Moore also had 19 assists for Boron
Paraclete 3, Calvary Chapel 0
MORENO VALLEY - Mia Tuiasosopo led the Spirits to a 3-0 victory with 11 kills (26-24, 25-12, 25-22).
Tori Mischel had 11 digs and three aces for Paraclete, which improved to 6-1 overall and 1-0 in Alpha League play.
