AMARGOSA CREEK CHANNEL IMPROVEMENTS

AMARGOSA CREEK is a natural channel which crosses western Palmdale.  Brockmeier Consulting Engineers, Inc. was retained to prepare an engineering study of alternatives and to design the selected improvements to Amargosa Creek Channel in a span crossing the Antelope Valley Freeway near Avenue P where the area is undergoing urban development.  Design flow in the channel is over 6,000 cubic feet per second (cfs).  Construction drawings and specifications were prepared for the selected improvements which consisted of a combination of a 28 foot wide open channel and reinforced concrete triple box, with each of the three cells approximately 16 feet wide and 10 feet high.
