LANCASTER - Lancaster School District went back to class Tuesday with not only a few new students but also a new superintendent, Howard Sundberg.

Visiting the school sites, Sundberg and other school officials spent the afternoon meeting with principals making sure the first day ran smoothly.

"This is my first opening as superintendent," Sundberg said. "It was a busy day, but from the reports I received from the principals, it was an overall good opening."

As the district runs through the motions of opening day, Sundberg is ready to execute some new plans.

"We have spent almost a year planning a new strategic plan on how we can reach our new objectives and mission statement that we developed. Now it is about execution," Sundberg said. "Once everything calms down a bit from opening day, our biggest thing this year will be implementing the plan. Other than that, today has been an exciting opening day."
